ARTIST'S STATEMENT Jewelry is that added touch that brings a sparkle to your
outfit, whether it is casual or elegant. It helps you shine and reflects
your personal style. While I love to make ladies sparkle on the outside, I
believe that what's inside is most
My client takes pride in her appearance, is fashion forward and appreciates the beauty and art in handcrafted design. My jewelry includes large pendants and chunky stones for those who like their jewelry to stand out, as well as delicate designs with small stones or crystals. Eclectic. Elegant. Everyday. I am drawn to the beautiful and the unusual. My travels also fill me with inspiration. I use components such as sterling silver, gold-fill and vermeil, Italian Murano glass, Swarovski crystals, semi-precious stones with vivid color, unusually shaped pearls, fossils, rare woods or botanical inspirations. The earth has many treasures to enjoy, and many of my pieces will speak to that. Many designs include asymmetry, irregular use of chain, front closures and gem clusters. My business practices incorporate recycling of paper products and jewelry components whenever possible so as to limit waste, carefully use resources and make responsible purchases of safe products to help our earth stay clean and green. Designs are constantly evolving, so check back often for new pieces. BIO From a young age, Sarah J. Cross has enjoyed creating beautiful things, by experimenting in various forms of arts/crafts throughout the years - everything from painting, sketching, crochet, clay sculpting, mosaics, and the ancient craft of Ukrainian Easter Egg painting (Pysanky). She studied classical piano for 13 years, which infused a love of the arts as well as great precision and discipline for her craft. As her work interests changed, she pursued a career in business and earned a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration. She has worked in sales and finance for much of her career, which further enhanced her attention to detail and ability to run a successful business. After becoming a full-time mother she discovered the art of jewelry making, and will always be thankful to her friend Kecia, who introduced her to the first bead store. The incorporation of her love for creative crafting, sales, and networking with other artists is a perfect fit. Each design is carefully thought out and pieced together to become an original work of art. Only a small portion of her designs are produced more than once. Most are limited edition or one-of-a-kind. She does include seasonal pieces and trend jewelry throughout the year due to customer requests as colors and fashions change constantly. Running and competitive track have always been Sarah's sport of choice. Knowing other athletes involved in these sports sparked an interest in adding a sports jewelry line primarily for runners and tri-athletes. Popularity has grown, and it is now distributed throughout California in stores and race expos. Sarah Jane Design was founded in 2005 by Sarah Jane Cross, an artist who has lived in both New Zealand and Canada, but now resides in the Pacific Northwest with her husband and two daughters. Her jewelry can be found in museums, shops and boutiques around the United States. CUSTOM WORK
She gets extra satisfaction in designing custom pieces for her
clients. "When I see or hear about the outfit and get information
on the event, I step into their shoes and picture myself at that event. I can
then create a detailed and beautiful ensemble that brings the crowning touch to
their outfit, and much pleasure to their special occasion and beyond."
